• Session recording: It is now possible to record and replay remote sessions on the local computer, giving you a documented evidence of your work on the remote computer.
• Access control: With version 3.5 distinct rules on how to access the remote computer can be set per session. Full access is the default mode and works like the default setting of older versions of TeamViewer. With the mode Confirm all it is only possible to view the remote desktop, further access is only available after it has been granted by the connection partner. For further information please refer to the online manual.
• Virtual Private Network: VPN connections to the remote computer are now possible with TeamViewer (e.g. making it possible to access remote databases with local applications).
• Remote reboot: It is now possible to restart the remote computer through TeamViewer. This also works with the TeamViewer QuickSupport module and also supports reboot in safe mode.
• Import/export: The TeamViewer options can be exported and imported (e.g. to set the same options on multiple computers).

• The TeamViewer toolbar has been redesigned completely giving you faster access to all actions.
• In the security settings it is now possible to restrict changes of the TeamViewer settings to Windows administrators.

TeamViewer 3 is a complete redevelopment of the TeamViewer remote control solution. One of the major reasons for this huge project was to separate TeamViewer from the old codebase which caused several performance and handling problems.

• Full support for Windows Vista UAC and remote login. With TeamViewer 3 it is now possible to remotely control windows running under the Vista secure desktop.
• Highly improved performance and connection stability with better encoding and compression
• TeamViewer is now only one single application, the separation between TeamViewer and DynGate could finally be removed because of the new codebase.
• In TeamViewer 3 you can now set alias names for all your partner IDs
• Automatic proxy detection now supports Firefox and Opera browsers
• Multi monitor handling and switching between remote monitors
• Extended design options for the customer module creator
• Improved file transfer with automatic resume and improved performance
• Full support for international character sets (unicode)
• Improved handling, usability and ease-of-use.
• Drawback: TeamViewer 3 is not compatible with TeamViewer 2.x and 1.x (but both versions can be installed on the same machine). The reason for that is that the TeamViewer 2.x protocol was based on VNC compatibility which caused several internal problems. With the development of TeamViewer 3 we decided to make a complete cut and implement a new, high performance protocol which helps to improve TeamViewer performance and stability.

• All TeamViewer 2.x licenses bought after 07/01/2007 are also valid for TeamViewer 3.

• All versions support cross-platform connections. This means, that you will be able to connect to a Mac computer from your Windows machine and back!
• TeamViewer for Mac has basically the same functionality as its counterpart, TeamViewer for Windows
• The same applies to the licensing model: We don't offer Windows or Mac licenses, but offer Windows and Mac licenses instead - so if you get a Premium license you can use it on your Windows and Mac systems!
• All TeamViewer 3.x users will be able to use TeamViewer Mac without extra charge - this is a free update!

The old TeamViewer Manager 2.50 will be completely replaced by the new version 3. The new manager has been completely redeveloped and is now a native Windows application that does not base on Microsoft .Net Framework any more.
